 The Southern New England Association of Neuroscience Nurses (SNEANN) was founded in 2004 as a chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN).  It's mission is to provide education and resources for health care professionals in the care of patients with neurologic diseases and injuries throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.




 

Spring SNEANN meeting

Our Spring SNEANN meeting was sponsored by PDL Biopharma. 

Elections of our new officers occurred at this meeting.  

 

The 2007-2008 officers:

Vice President:  Gretchen Wolf MSN, RN, CNRN, CCRN, NREMT-P

Treasurer:  Kathy Korfel BSN, RN

 Neuroscience Nurses Week is May 20-26th

Plans are underway for the Neuroscience Nurses Week celebration.  Come join us in honoring the neurosceince nurses from throughout our region. 

 

SNEANN will be sponsoring a Neuroscience Nurses Week Lecture: "Innovations in Stroke Care" (click title for brochure)  May 24, 2007 5:30 PM.  Gilman Auditorium, Hartford Hosptial.  Contact hours will be provided.  

 

Speakers for the Program will be Dawn Beland RN, MS, CCRN, CS, CNRN Stroke Center Coordinator, Hartford Hospital and Donna Avancean, MSN RN FNP-C CNRN Nurse Practicioner, Stroke Center,  Hartford Hospital and Past President American Association of Neuroscience Nurses.

 

Gifts will be distrubuted to all neuroscience nurse attendees.

 

SNEANN will also be shipping small gifts for neuro nurses to hospitals throughout the region with dedicated neuro units for distribution during Neuroscience Nurses Week.  Please email Gretchen or Cindy to be sure your unit is on the list!

Interested in getting your CNRN?   Then this course is for you!  Gretchen and Cindy will again be offering the Neuroscience Nursing Certification Preparation Course.  This two day program will provide a comprehensive update for those nurses preparing for the neuroscience nurse certification exam, as well as for those nurses interested in updating, enhancing, and increasing their knowledge base in the neuroscience patient care setting.  

 

PLEASE NOTE!!! The application Deadline for the CNRN Exam is September 7, 2007.  Your Exam application must be received by ABNN by that date!  The CNRN handbook/application is available at aann.org/credential
